A Light in the Struggle: A Memoir of Finding What the Storm Was Teaching Me.About the Author:
I’m an author and advocate whose work focuses on lived experience, healing, and the strength found in difficult places. Through A Light in the Struggle I share reflections and community insight that help others feel seen, supported, and understood. My writing centers truth and growth.I was born female and later transitioned to male and my experience as part of the LGBTQ community shapes the way I understand identity, safety, and the realities people face when systems don’t know how to support them. Navigating gender‑based barriers has given me a deep understanding of how people can be misread, mislabeled, or dismissed and how important it is to create environments where people feel safe, respected, and affirmed.I was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Orange County, California. Where my early experiences including growing up in group homes taught me how instability affects safety, trust, and decision‑making. These experiences guide my trauma-informed approach to advocacy and my commitment to helping people navigate overwhelming systems. My work is rooted in community and the belief that people deserve to feel safe and supported, especially when systems fail them.
